baş aşağı anıt/the monument upside down

Initiated during 2009 – 2010, The Monument Upside Down is an art and publication project traversing the Byzantine Land Walls of Istanbul once more as a defense structure and as an urban threshold against the backround of the urban transformation process of Istanbul. The publication consists of documentation, interviews and articles produced though several meetings, conversations and invitations, focusing on the idea of threshold, historical heritage, informal economies and local legends that build up the labyrinth of the walls.
